The Accelerated Reading program is a fantastic method for monitoring word counts and book levels. You can check your word count report after each completed quiz. In addition to word count goals for second grade, individual student point goals will be set. Next time you take a quiz, check your point goal. It's worth 100 tickets! Tickets will be given out on Fridays.

Spelling: review words and personal address

Vocabulary: expository essay

Writing Journal (optional): sent home on Friday and is due on Wednesday. Please write 10 or more sentences in your Journal. You may choose to write daily or weekend news, a short story, about a dream, a nonfiction report, or a poem. 

In 2nd Grade we will learn to write descriptive, narrative, persuasive, creative, research, and response to literature paragraphs.

Multiplication Facts

Daily Math Thinking Problems: Students will find solutions and explain them in a variety of ways. 

The 2nd Grade goal for EPGY is to get 90% of all problems correct, and 85% of all problems correct that are above the 2nd grade level. We currently have more than half the class at 3rd grade level or higher. 2 students have made it to the 4th grade level.


Project Cornerstone

Project Cornerstone

Students will meet once a month with Mrs. Mott to talk about positive reinforcement and community building. Students will learn to write "Fuzzy Grams" positive comments to each other. They will also learn how to respond to bullies and negative comments.

 

Pokeman Club  

Meets on Mondays at lunch recess in the Library with Mrs. Mott.
